The Ancients of Romonon are former citizens of the City of Romonon. They consist of the old, sick, foreign, ugly, weak and anyone else the citizens of Romonon would find that goes against their 'beautiful' society. As punishment, they were turned from flesh to gold. In turn have become essentially immortal, outlasting the very society they had been cast away form, crushed by the weigh of it's own gold. [1]
Plot[edit | edit source]
The ancients were encountered by Qifrey, Coco, and Tetia within the Serpentback Cave after they fell into the space below the serpent's pass after the very structure attacked them, bewitched by a spell drawn by Brimmed Caps.[2] Upon falling to the space below, the three witches were confronted by the gilded Romonons, whom, recognizing Qifrey as a witch, attempted to kill him, as they thought him to be the same as the witches who had turned them to gold millennium before. During the fight, however, Tetia removed her mirror cloak, allowing the ancients to see her. She explained to them that the world had changed in the millennium since they had been turned to gold, with the witches of the current era using their magic to bring joy to those around the peninsula. After giving Tetia a riddle, answered by Coco, they ceased fighting the witches and Coco gave them a Snugstone to help alleviate their pain, if only slightly. However, the gilded people then placed the contraption within an arcane lens of amplification, which amplified the effect of the spell enough to cause them to melt. The people of Romonon then thank the three witches before melting entirely, finally able to have their long awaited rest.
