The Snugstone is one of the creations of Olruggio.

Description

The snugstone is made from some kind of crystalized deposit cut into flat slices, with a Snugstone Spell drawn on its surface. This spell allows it to radiate a faint, pleasant warmth, without the need of an open flame. The spell is precisely balanced to the size of the seal drawn on the stone so that it is warm to the touch but not hot enough to burn.

History

Olruggio gave a pouch of five Snugstones to Qifrey with the purpose of helping him and his apprentices to sleep better, as well as to trial-run the stones before he began to sell them.

During the Second Pentagram Test Arc, Coco gave her snugstone to the leader of the Ancients of Romonon, who placed it inside an Arcane Lens of Amplification. However the amplification unbalanced the spell and the heat became so great that it melted the golden ancients of Romonon.

Trivia

• The snugstone spell contains flipped column signs, which are likely the reason why it radiates heat outwards. Interestingly, a dispersion sign would probably elicit the same effect, but they were not used.
• During Chapter 39 when Olruggio recalls helping Outsiders in a castle town, it appears he may have given a snugstone to an older woman as he says to "use this" if she gets cold at night. He's also holding what could be the snugstone pouch when another man in the same flashback thanks him.
