Carapace Yam is a type of crop similar to potatoes.

Description[edit | edit source]

It is a type of tuber covered by an unusually tough outer layer. When baked whole, the inside has a flaky texture.[1] One method of cooking involves holding the yam over an appropriately-size flame, which results in a delicious, piping-hot treat.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

The carapace yam was first seen being used by Qifrey for a magic demonstration with Coco. He used a repetition seal to revert some old, rotten yams to their former, fresher state.[3] He then made Coco utilize the pyreball seal to cook the yams.[2] Tetia and Richeh then joined Coco and Qifrey, and the four of them made dumplings and sandwiches with the yams,[4] which they ate for a picnic under a bridge.[5]

The carapace yam was also a main ingredient in the first meal Qifrey cooked in the spin-off series, Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen.[6]
