Chapter Twenty-Three of the fourth volume of the Witch Hat Atelier manga series.
Summary[edit | edit source]
With Agott restrained, the Brimmed Cap witch tears at her sleeve to expose her forearm. They begin cutting into her skin, and Agott remembers that Brimmed Caps will carve spells into their skin as tattoos. Having those kinds of tattoos is a terrible crime, even if the person receiving the tattoo was unwilling. Panic sets in, and Agott screams and thrashes, terrified of her future being ruined because of this altercation. Richeh throws a Crystal Ribbon in her direction, telling Agott to grab on once she fell. Just as she says that, the ground underneath the Brimmed Cap witch and her explode, and they both fall. Agott grabs onto the ribbon, and she's pulled back onto the path with Richeh. It's revealed that it was Euini that blew up the road, who is still underneath the paths, happy with his success. However, his happiness is short-lived. The Brimmed Cap witch reaches out from the shadows and pulls Euini in with them.
The girls soon realize that something is wrong, and begin calling out to Euini. After a few moments, Richeh spots the distorted form of Euini, crawling on the ground. He calls out for their help, as he transforms into a Scalewolf. The Brimmed Cap witch reveals themselves shortly after. It was them who experimented on Euini and caused this transformation. They mentioned how it didn't go as planned, which angers Richeh. She demands that Euini be turned back to normal, but the Brimmed Cap witch disappears. After brief discussion, Agott and Richeh decide to split up. Agott will go in search of Euini, while Richeh will head towards the exit with the Myrphons. As she leaves, Agott mentions that because Richeh only knows magic that she has made and enjoys, she isn't equipped to save Euini the way she is currently. This seems to upset Richeh as Agott disappears.
Back with Coco, Tetia, and Qifrey, they had landed in a mysterious cave. Coco is woken up by Brushbuddy, but the other two are still unconscious. Coco attempts to wake them, and she notices that Qifrey is very injured. She reaches for his face, but Qifrey jolts awake and slams her hand down. Tetia begins to wake up as Qifrey takes in their surroundings. They are being watched by strange gold figures, which he recognizes as The Ancients of Romonon. Qifrey staggers to his feet, and orders the girls to stay by his side, planning to protect them even while seriously injured.
