Overview |
Iguin (イグイーン, Iguīn) is the Brimmed Caps witch who sold a mysterious magic book to Coco when she was a young girl. Their motivations have something to do with making Coco use forbidden magic. They appear to be incredibly powerful, possessing magic that is beyond the scope of normal witches. They also have an incredible agility, being able to make jumps while casting magic. They rarely appear except to interfere with Coco from the sidelines.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Iguin's true appearance is unknown as their face and body are always covered in their clothes, cloak and mask.
Overall, they seem to be a person with an average build, not being too tall or small, and the same applies to how muscular they are. Iguin doesn't appear to be very strong, nor do they show any signs of being too skinny or weak. Iguin is also shown to have incredible dexterity, being able to make jumps and other acrobatic feats easily.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Iguin is mysterious and enigmatic, always talking about some prophecy, saying things about Coco being a child of hope and how forbidden magic should be brought back to the world. They appear to get very angry when Sasaran goes against one of their ideas, so it's likely for them to have an angry response when allies disagree with them.
History[edit | edit source]
Little is known of Iguin's past. When Coco was little, during a festival at the local castle, Iguin sold Coco the magic book, setting the events of the story into motion.[1] Additionally, at some point, he ended up teaming up with Sasaran.
Plot[edit | edit source]
A Touch of Magic[edit | edit source]
In a flashback to Coco's past, Iguin gives the mysterious Magic Book to Coco, with the intention of her using Forbidden Magic. She originally thought this book was an ordinary picture book, but after she discovers the secret behind magic, she realizes that these symbols actually turn into magic when drawn.

Relationships[edit | edit source]
Sasaran[edit | edit source]
Sasaran and Iguin are both Brimmed Cap witches who are working together to bring down the pointed hats and remove all barriers on what kinds of magic should be used.
Iguin seems to be the superior in their relationship. During the Second Pentagram Test arc, while in the Serpentback Cave, Sasaran didn't want to leave despite Iguin feeling it was time to withdraw. Iguin then threatened Sasaran to comply, with the former showing clear and obvious terror towards his comrade, the two leaving immediately after.[2]
It is clear from their interactions that while they are on the same side and share a common goal, their relationship is not an equal or amicable one, but one of control, seemingly only existing due to their common interest.

Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Iguin uses the generic Japanese pronoun 私 (watashi), which serves to further mask their gender and identity.
