A Touch of Magic is the first volume of the Witch Hat Atelier manga series. It features Coco on the front cover and Qifrey on the back cover.
Synopsis[edit]
In a world where everyone takes wonders like magic, spells and dragons for granted, Coco is a girl with a simple dream: she wants to be a witch. But everybody knows magicians are born, not made, and Coco was not born with a gift for magic. Resigned to her un-magical life, Coco is about to give up on her dream to become a witch…until the day she meets Qifrey, a mysterious, traveling magician. After secretly seeing Qifrey perform magic in a way she’s never seen before, Coco soon learns what everybody “knows” might not be the truth, and discovers that her magical dream may not be as far away as it may seem…

Volume Notes[edit]
- Volume 1 is the longest published volume to date, with 194 narrative pages (not including extras and advertisements). Volume 10 is the shortest.
- A variant slipcover for Volume 1 (in Japan) was included in the April 2017 issue of Monthly Morning Two magazine to commemorate the manga selling over 100 thousand copies.[1]
Grimoire Edition[edit]
French publisher Pika Édition is publishing a unique, double-volume edition of the series. Hardcover-bound in an enlarged format (14.5x20 cm/145x200 mm), it has a threadbound spine and foiled cover. It also features 18 color pages from the original pre-publication (the color chapter covers originally printed in 'Morning Two' magazine, as well as Shirahama's color illustrations from the time), as well as "illustrations, graphic research and interviews from the exclusive content of the series' collector's mini-artbooks."[2] At 432 pages, it includes volumes 1 and 2 (chapters 1-11) and additional content. It goes on sale January 22, 2025.[3]
