Qifrey wears a unique pair of glasses where his left lens is clear and right lens is black. The center pad of the glasses stick to the bridge of his nose thanks to a natural adhesive.

Description

Small round lens with a golden frame, and a diamond-shaped nose guard in the middle. On that nose guard there is an etched design of two more diamonds repeating inwards, and a small dot in the very center. The nose guard is flexible so it can be molded to the wearer's nose. The lens on Qifrey's right side is black, while the lens on his left is clear.

Spell on Qifrey's glasses explained

It is revealed that Qifrey's black lens has an opacating spell to hide his missing eye, and a spell on the clear lens to reduce harsh lighting. The clear lens seal is written in transparent ink using scales from the Blushing Bride butterfly.

History

It is uncertain when Qifrey began wearing the glasses, as he is not shown wearing them as child. As an adult, he wears them constantly.
In a comic Kamome Shirahama drew to celebrate Beldaruit's birthday, one of the panels of Qifrey show him wearing the glasses. He is also wearing Olruggio's ribbon on his cap, implying this is before/after their third Witch Trial.

The Light-Reducing spell

In Chapter 40, Qifrey reveals that he began using a Light-Reducing Spell on his glasses "a few years ago," and that it spares him from seeing the brightest lights. It is taken by Qifrey and Olruggio as a sign that Qifrey's vision in his left eye is fading.
