The Split-Shard Bangles (and ring set) are contraptions invented by Richeh. They allow the wearers to find each other by following a ray of light that connects them through the bracelets.
Description[edit | edit source]
A set of bangles is made from a single crystal that has been split into 2 or more pieces and has then been weaved into a bracelet or ring. When the light tracer glyph on the contraption is pressed down upon, the glyph will complete and a ray of light will point towards the other shards within its set, allowing for those with paired bangles to locate one another even if they are far apart.[1] The spell presumably works as the fragments remember their previous structure and won't connect to just any other shard.

History[edit | edit source]
The idea for the split-shard bangle, at least for the rings, came as a result of the atelier getting split up at Cape Romonon: Richeh wanted a way to ensure that if any of them were ever separated again, they would be able to find help.[2] Richeh created sets of bracelets to sell at Silver Eve (and would sell out).[3] In addition to this, she created a set of 6 rings, one for each member of Qifrey's Atelier. She gave them these rings on the way to Silver Eve (with the exception of Olruggio who wasn't present at the time).[2]
During the evacuation efforts at Silver Eve, the bracelets are shown being used by Outsiders to reunite family members.[4]
