The Liongoat is a lion-goat hybrid creature native to the Zozah Peninsula.

Description[edit | edit source]

Two types of Liongoats have been seen thus far; whether these are different breeds or sexual dimorphism is yet to be confirmed. The Liongoats used for making Liongoat Cheese appear to have a single horn, a long-haired mane that curls at the ends, small ears, and a tuft of fur growing from their chin.[1][2] The rest of their bodies have not yet been seen.

The other known Liongoat is quite large as it is bigger than Olruggio, and has a male lion's body with a full shaggy mane around its head and a trail of hair running down its back. It has six horns atop its goat-like head—four horns that spiral outwards like sun rays, and two over the ears that spiral inwards like a ram's.[3] It also has long goat-like ears, and a lion-like tail.

History[edit | edit source]

The Liongoats have not physically appeared in the manga yet, but appear as companion illustrations when Qifrey cooks something with Liongoat Cheese. The first of which was seen in Chapter 8 when Qifrey and Coco cook up lunch to help her practice drawing the Pyreball Seal.[1] A similar drawing of the liongoat also appears in Chapter 3 (Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen) when Qifrey makes Fluffy, Cheesy Egg Melt sandwiches for a picnic later that day.[2]

There is also a bonus illustration that Kamome Shirahama posted on Twitter and later appears in the Volume 11 bonus artbook of Olruggio lounging on some pillows with Brushbuddy and a large Liongoat.[3]

Given the hybrid nature of this creature, it's possible that it is among the species (like the Pegasus, Eldroxen, and Frillrams) that were originally separate animals fused together by witch magic in the era before the Day of the Pact. As the former Wise in Friendship Engendale later explained on the last night of Silver Eve, these fused creatures were considered a great success and were tamed and bred into abundance while their unnatural beginnings were pushed from mind — a practice that ended when such magic became forbidden.[4]
