Fairy Grass is a type of plant with edible flowers that can be found growing wild in the Naakiwan Downs.

Description[edit | edit source]

Fairy Grass is a small plant that has a number of thin, smooth leaves, a closed umbrella-like flower with a jagged design along the bottom of the petals, and a halo of short bristle-like stamen on top with a small spadix in its center. The petals are a light blue while the top stamen are dark blue and the spadix yellow. The leaves appear to be a light-medium green.[1] The plant can be found in the Naakiwan Downs near Qifrey's Atelier.[2]

The flowers can be pressed into Marktea slips called Fairy Tea. It has a sweet, refreshing aroma and a clean, slightly tart flavor.[3] They are also said to be good at soothing nerves and calming the mind.[3] When brewed the tea produces a deep translucent blue color, but will turn bright red when combined with tart, acidic substances like Green Lemons.[4] Consuming the flower's nectar will also dye one's lips blue.[5]

Because many of the Marktea herbs are also used as casting components,[6] it's possible that Fairy Grass is also used to make ink dyes.

History[edit | edit source]

Fairy Grass made its debut in Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen when Qifrey introduced Marktea to Coco[7] and played a game of Hushtea with all of the girls.[8] Fairy Tea was part of the second challenge, solved by Tetia.[9] Fairy Grass has been used occasionally since as a natural food dye for Qifrey's Meatloaf inlaid with Seafoam-Colored Cap[10] and Glittering Gelatin Gems,[11] as well as the flowers being eaten fresh from the field and then added as edible decoration to candy cookies.[2]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • For real-world recipes, Fairy Tea can be substituted with butterfly pea flower tea or consommé with blue food coloring.[14]
