A Woolpuff is a type of plant with edible flowers that grows in the Zozah Peninsula.

Description[edit | edit source]

Woolpuffs, also known as the Pufftail Weed, are long-stemmed plants with short medium-green leaves, and a large head of a puffy white flower. The plant can be found growing wild in the fields in and around Coco's Village,[1] as well as in the Naakiwan Downs near Qifrey's Atelier.[2]

The flowers and plant can be pressed into Marktea slips called Beast-tail Tea (獣尾茶 Jyuubi'cha). It has a rich, tangy aroma similar to that of roasted beans.[3] Easy to drink with little aftertaste, the tea is often drunk before bedtime for its gentle, enveloping warmth.[3] The flower's nectar can also be consumed by plucking the flower off of its stem and sucking at the base of the petals; it has a sweet flavor.[4] After doing so, the flowerhead noticeably flattens.

History[edit | edit source]

Woolpuffs debuted in Chapter 1 and are often seen throughout the series as the flower-crown of choice for flashbacks of Coco when she was a young girl.[5]

In Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen, Woolpuffs debuted and were given their name when Qifrey introduced Marktea to Coco. Beast-tail Tea was the Marktea slip she chose to drink first as it reminded her of home.[1] Agott then chose to pair it with Wood Sorrel and Willowgrape tea slips to complete the drink, and sipping it she marveled at the flavors, saying she felt like she had just run through a bright sunny field.[6] Beast-tail Tea is also used in a later recipe along with Willowgrape Tea when Qifrey makes Tea-infused Goodnight Gratin for him and Olruggio to help them sleep.[7] At a later date, the flowers themselves are also eaten fresh from the field by the girls and used as edible decoration in Olruggio's Puffbun Bouquet with Whipped Cream treats.[2]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • For real-world recipes, Beast-tail Tea can be substituted with your preferred blend of (calming)[11] herbal tea.[12]
