Whirlfuzz Tomatoes are a type of large furry tomato that grows in the Zozah Peninsula.
Description[edit | edit source]
Whirlfuzz tomatoes are a variety of large tomatoes that are covered in a layer of fluffy fuzz. While they are more challenging and time-consuming to grow than other cultivars, they are renowned for their rich, sweet flavor.[1] They are also closely related to the Fuzzbergine.[1] Their furry pelts are red while their sepel and pedicel are dark green.[2] The tomatoes grow on leafy shrubs that can grow over four feet in height and have wide leaves with pointed lobes along the blades.[3]
History[edit | edit source]
Whirlfuzz tomatoes were introduced in Chapter 36 (Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen) when Tetia discovered some ripe for the picking in the atelier garden, with Qifrey confirming he had only started growing them that year.[1] Whirlfuzz tomatoes have been used somewhat frequently since, included in dishes like the Chilled Carapace Yam Pasta with Freshly-Picked Veggies, Pointed Cap Fritters with Badland Beans, and Spicy Salad with Fried Fuzzbergines where they're simply peeled, diced, and tossed with other veggies. They've also been used in dishes like the Four Spice Soup where they're crushed and simmered in a pan. When Olruggio was exhausted from replying to correspondence, he asked if he could simply eat one of the tomatoes for lunch, much to Qifrey's disapproval.[4]

Notes[edit | edit source]
- For real-world recipes, Whirlfuzz tomatoes can be substituted with your preferred variety of large tomato.[8]
- So far, recipes might use Whirlfuzz tomatoes or Gem tomatoes, but never both together.
- Other fuzzy flora and fauna of Zozah include the Fuzzbergine and the Whirlfuzz Swine. It's not known if this is a natural evolutionary occurrence or a historical interference by witches.
