Marktea is a type of tea introduced in Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen.

Description[edit | edit source]

Also known as Mystical Marktea, they are round, paper-thin slips adorned with pressed herbs, flowers, or spices. The tea can be brewed by pouring hot water through the slips; a three-tiered tower-like tool is used to hold these slips in place, allowing for nearly endless combinations of flavors.[1] The strength of the tea can be controlled by the rate at which water is poured:[2] a slow pour for strong tea, or a fast pour for weak tea.[3] The thin slips may also be used as bookmarks.[1]

Hushtea[edit | edit source]

Each slip has a front and back, though tea can be steeped from either side.[4] The back of the slips might be blank, thus hiding the type it is.[5] Tea made with upside-down slips is referred to as Hushtea.[4]

Hushtea also refers to a game in which the participants attempt to guess the ingredients of a tea prepared for them, using the aroma, color, and taste.[4] The answers are revealed via a smoke-sculpting seal inscribed on a small plate, which constructs the original plants from the teacup's rising steam.[6]

Marktea Producers[edit | edit source]

Twinhead Golden Dragon[edit | edit source]

Twinhead Golden Dragon is Zozah Peninsula's oldest and most respected producer of Willowgrape marktea. Their premier label traditionally comes in a wooden box with only two slips of tea inside.[7] Additionally, the Willowgrape leaves are laid in a more intricate design unlike the usual Willowgrape marktea slips and are presumably of a higher leaf quality, and the box itself is considered fancy too with its sloped edges and fabric lining the inside.[8] Twinhead Golden Dragon brand tea can be purchased in the Great Hall.[8]
