Chapter 23.5 is a bonus chapter from Volume 4 of the Witch Hat Atelier manga series.
Summary[edit | edit source]
This chapter centers around Brushbuddy's daily life. It begins with Brushbuddy's childhood with their parents and siblings before growing up and going off on their own, where they soon meet Coco (during her first witch trial). Curious about these peculiar creatures known as "witches," Brushbuddy stays to observe, tolerating their odd behavior while enjoying access to their ink bottles until rudely removed. Most mysterious of all to Brushbuddy is how Coco and the other atelier inhabitants will toil for hours in front of their desks, and then use their spells for the benefit of others, as Brushbuddy observes Coco creating a Rainflinger Spell to keep an animal nest dry during a rainstorm. Brushbuddy concludes that mysteries are what bring life the greatest fascination, and that maybe they should record their findings for future generations. Brushbuddy wonders at the title before being interrupted by Coco exclaiming at the ink mess they've made on her papers and hat.

Chapter Notes[edit | edit source]
- This is the only chapter written from the point of view of Brushbuddy, and the first and only time their family was shown.
- This chapter is almost certainly a reference to the famous Japanese novel, I Am A Cat. In the novel, a house cat living in the home of a teacher describes the daily lives of the household's occupant humans in a pompous and self-important mode of speech more suited to a nobleman than a humble house cat.
- This special chapter originally published in Weekly Morning magazine as opposed to the usual Morning Two magazine which prints the Witch Hat chapters.[1]
