Summary[edit | edit source]
Coco is surprised to find a silverwood grove under the sea. Everyone bows before the Beldaruit, of the Three Wise. Olruggio grabs a branch and attacks Beldaruit, revealing he’s a smoke illusion. The real Beldaruit appears and complains at Olruggio for throwing off his big entrance. Olruggio responds that, as the Wise of Teachings, he should act more dignified. Beldaruit explains that being called Wise is nothing but a title and that it is important to instill a sense of wonder when teaching. Unlike Vinnana, the Wise in Principles, and Engendill, the Wise in Friendships, his role is far more passive. However, affairs related to tests fall under his domain, and he prompts Coco and the others to explain what happened at Cape Romonon.
After hearing the girls, Beldaruit decides to send a search party after Alaira and Euini. Also, since the exam got interrupted by an outside party, he proposes to personally test all the girls for The Sincerity of the Shield exam, including Coco and Tetia. Richeh thinks they should all work together to have a better chance at passing the test. Beldaruit gives them three days to surprise him with their magic. They can try as many times as they want. He then dissapears in a cloud of bright colours, revealing he was also an illusion.
Afterwards, Coco comments that Beldaruit reminded her of Qifrey. Before Olruggio can say anything, Richeh and Tetia complain about being hungry, and Agott would like to wash her hair. Olruggio agrees to take them to a meal and a bath, but Luluci tells him that, as the atelier’s Watchful Eye, he should write a report and hand it her. Olruggio complains that he already told Beldaruit everything he knows, but Luluci tells him that Beldaruit is an unreliable narrator. Finally, Olruggio agrees to submit a report and leaves with Lulucy. Tetia and the other girls then offer to show Coco around, since this is her first time there: the Great Hall is every witch’s home, after all.

- He allows Agott and Richeh to attempt the Sincerity of the Shield exam a second time. Coco and Tetia will take the test as well. The test will consist on surprising Beldaruit with their magic. They are allowed to work together and try as many times as they want.

- This and Chapter 30 originally published together in the Morning Two magazine July 2019 issue, and included a color print for the cover of Chapter 30, and an exclusive Brushbuddy card for the card game that was included in the limited edition version of Volume 5.[1]
