Chapter Fifty-Three of Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen. Currently only available online at Morning Two Comics.
Summary[edit | edit source]
The inhabitants of Qifrey's Atelier take a day trip to the beach. The girls rush ahead to play in the surf, while Olruggio remarks that it's good to get out and get some exercise, since the convenience of magic can make witches lazy—all while settling in to lounge on a Serpent's Bed of Sand. He doesn't get to rest for long, as Qifrey hustles him off the cloud, noting that Olruggio needs exercise more than anybody. It seems Qifrey has come to the beach to work on a project, so Olruggio volunteers to watch the girls, and they draw him into a water fight using Watershot Seals.
Eventually, Oluruggio runs out of steam, and the girls decide to take a break. As they walk back up the beach to Qifrey, Richeh complains about all the sand sticking to them. Agott suggests they can wash it off using Vapor Bubbles, but Qifrey announces he has a better solution—before showing off a large, water fountain-like contraption. He explains that the Magic Water Fountain[unofficial name] is intended to help nearby residents, as fresh water is hard to come by in that area. It operates in a similar fashion to a windowway, and is connected to a mountain spring far away. And just like a windowway, the fountain can be connected to various locations. He demonstrates by turning a ring around the basin, switching the fountain to steaming, hot spring water. At this point, Olruggio grows inpatient for Qifrey to show the girls the special thing he had been working on. Turning the basin dial again, Qifrey explains that the contraption can produce three different types of water: fresh spring water; warm, hot spring water; and fizzy, sparkling water!
Coco is the only one surprised and baffled by the sparkling water, having never encountered it before. Olruggio explains that it's produced by rare springs containing air, and is very popular back at the Great Hall. He quickly downs a full glass, and proclaims it a perfect pick-me-up. Tetia is shocked that Olruggio can drink the sparkling water plain. Agott agrees that it's better flavored with juice, and Richeh says she likes it best with lime, and sweetened with honey. Qifrey offers to make Coco a drink using the sparkling water, ice, and chopped Climbing Dewberry mixed with sugar. The resulting drink has a green tint, and Richeh declares it's delicious, eagerly requesting another glass. Tetia encourages Coco to give it a try, and Coco hesitantly takes a sip, only to be overwhelmed by the effervescence. Agott reassures her that, "You get used to it."

Chapter Notes[edit | edit source]
- This chapter marks the return of the Serpent's Bed of Sand—last seen in Chapter 7—with Olruggio praising it as a "good spell."
- It also reintroduces the Climbing Dewberry, first seen in Chapter 40 (Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen).
- This chapter introduces a new contraption: the Magic Water Fountain.[unofficial name]
- While none of the girls seem to care for plain sparkling water, Coco is the only one who doesn't like the sweetened version either.
- This chapter and the main series' Chapter 81 released in the same month and both coincidentally feature Olruggio resting on the Serpent's Bed of Sand spell.[2][3]
- The Morning Two magazine chapter cover features a unique phrase that's not included in the volume releases. It reads: いつもとは違う場所で みんなと一緒にリフレッシュ! and can be translated to: At a place different from usual, everyone together can get refreshed!
