Chapter Eighty One of the Witch Hat Atelier manga series.
Summary[edit | edit source]
Olruggio wakes up on a Serpent's Bed of Sand to the four girls surrounding him. He asks how long he was asleep and they all reply with only a short while but that he should rest some more if he collapsed because of an injury. He's coy in replying that it wasn't because he was injured but because of his bad lifestyle choices.
Lagrah joins the group and says that he needs Olruggio's assistance. He agrees and Lagrah makes him draw copies of two seals, echo and snugstone. The girls look on in appreciation of his abilities but Olruggio tells them to stop looking and help out in making snugstones and Echopouches.
The chapter explains how the contraption works in that they put a snugstone inside a piece of cloth with the echo sigil draw on it, and speak phrases such as 'help me' into it. The pouches are then sent into the forest where a guide seal leads them away from town. The valance leech mistakes them for living creatures due to the yelling, movement, and warmth and is also drawn away from the town, following and eating them, much to Olruggio's dismay. Lagrah joins Olruggio in creating the echopouches.
Two witches onlook the leech from a distance with enhanced binoculars and preemptively celebrate the plan working before they realise its not anymore. They warn the others that the leech has figured out the pouches aren't actually food. Lagrah asks Riliphin if the Counterclock spell is ready but he explains the the windturners are having difficulties maintaining it due to the size and distance they are away from it.
While helping move the stages, Beldaruit is knocked out of his Sealchair by a wind spell. Riliphin rushes over to him and apologises, saying that he should have forseen this happening before suddenly realising that Beldaruit's arm is broken. He reasurres Riliphin that it's nobodies fault, and that his brones have always been brittle. He asks if Riliphin can draw but he's unsure if his spells will be as strong as Beldaruit's.
Richeh points out that the leech is causing the stages to crash to the ground. Beldaruit comments that maybe the idea was too far-fetched, Riliphin concurs saying that theres no way the circle will hold up. Coco gets an idea and confirms that all they have to do if make the seal into the shape of a circle. Olruggio tries to stop her but she's already flying away with her slyph shoes. Agott flies after her and offers her help, asking what reckless plan she has in mind. Coco reaches out her hand to Agott's and says that she wouldn't call it reckless and that they can do this.
