Chapter Seventy Seven of the Witch Hat Atelier manga series.
Summary[edit | edit source]
Olruggio conceals his body heat in order to throw the Valance Leech (Monster) off as he learns that it attacks anything living. A group of Outsiders cheer him on from a building beneath him but freezes on the spot when they shout to kill it. Since he's distracted, Olruggio gets attacked by the valance leech and drops his wand, unable to draw magic. Utowin and Easthies appear and free Olruggio from the valance leech's grasp. Olruggio self-deprecates by talking about how he isn't a good witch if he can't draw when it is needed. Recognizing the statement from their childhood, Utowin reassures him that its fine if he can't draw magic to kill, and tells him to get to safety and instead focus on helping others in his own way.
Coco runs towards Dagda and Custas and tells them to seek medical help from the King but Custas is hostile towards her about how its not fair that witches get to decide which spells are used and when, and that they're all liars for keeping magic a secret. Custas eventually passes out, exhausted. Dagda says to Coco that they'll just be resting for a moment and he promises Coco that they'll get help. Dagda notices its getting brighter outside but when Coco realizes its not yet morning she rushes upstairs to Beldaruit. There she smashes an inkpot, calling back to when she accidentally broke an inkpot in Chapter 45, and shares her plan.
Olruggio makes it outside the city and finds Tetia, Agott, and Richeh alongside a large group of witches dismantling and moving around the platforms from the procession. Olruggio asks the girls whats going on and they explain its part of Coco's plan to surround the valance leech and draw a massive Counterclock seal around it.
