Chapter Fourteen of Witch Hat Atelier Kitchen.

In order to introduce the girls to smoked food, Qifrey lightly smokes eggs and cheese, as they have a less intense flavor. He roasts and mashes a Carapace Yam, and dices Shorecumbers, Sword Carrots, and Chrysanthonions, as well as the smoked cheese. He mixes them into the mash, adds salt, pepper, vinegar, and olive oil, then plates it with smoked egg on top. With the Carapace Yam Salad side dish complete, he moves on to the main dish. Qifrey slices smoked Cordfish, Chrysanthonions, and Horncaps into thin strips, then stir-fries the onions and fish with butter, adding the Horncaps with salt and pepper halfway through. He reduces the heat and mixes in flour, and tries to slowly add milk but slips, leaving the sauce full of lumps. The girls and Olruggio arrive, and Qifrey doesn't have time to start the sauce again, so he continues making the dish. He boils the pasta, strains it, and mixes it into the sauce, completing the Witch-Hat Pasta in Smoked Cordfish Sauce. Qifrey serves the dishes, but suggests that the girls try the salad first. They all enjoy it and recognize that the cheese and egg are somehow different. They next try the pasta, and are unsure as to what is making the flavor different, but enjoy it regardless. Qifrey is glad it went well, and Olruggio apologizes for not being able to help out. Qifrey says there's nothing to be sorry about, as he was working all night. Olruggio smirks, and swaps plates with Qifrey, taking the plate with lumpy sauce to Qifrey's surprise.
